heading to Lake Powell next week,Trying to extend summer a little longer, any comments on best low water launches,,fishing?..Thanks PHILBERT

We love Lake Powell in October and November after the majority of visitors go home. However, lake levels have been at record lows these last few years and we have not been recently. Hopefully, at least a couple of the launch ramps are still useable as the water level continues to drop over the next few weeks. Enjoy, and take a canoe or kayaks to explore the upper reaches of some of the too shallow or too narrow canyons, and access the start of the hiking.

Check out the C-brats site. http://www.c-brats.com under recent topics. Click on the Lake Powell thread. I think a bunch are going to launch at the Bullfrog ramp and head the Oak Bay ,Oak canyon area. I think October 1st was the plan. Nice people some with loads of experience there. I'm sure you could hang with them if you were inclined to do so. You could ask any question and I'm sure they could answer it. Waheap is about two hours south and is also a decent place to start. If you go to Bullfrog provision at Paige there is a large Wal-Mart there I think.

If you ever visit Lake Mead try Temple Bar Marina, lovely in the off season. For a real "down in the canyon on the river" experience try Willow Beach; plus size stripers, coyotes along the river and big horn sheep up in the rocks. Use caution on the decent off Highway 93 to Willow.

Wahweap has a wonderful launch ramp and a place for parking. Enjoy the cruise, we did it 5 years ago and look forward to the day we return.
