Lisa n I are looking into possibly returning to Lake Powell this coming September to cruise. The reason for this post is for getting a sense of who else might be interested in a get together, cruise, exploration if this can come together. Post back here or PM us if you are remotely interested in a Lake Powell get together in September.

Jim,
We really enjoyed Lake Powell last September.
May I suggest you keeping an eye on the lake levels this year. It’s down 30.58 feet from yesterday’s reading compared to the same day in 2020.
The lake was already pretty low last September. Being 30 foot lower this year might put some of the ramps in trouble later in the season. April or May might be better if you have your new R25 OB by then.

PS: We are planning a four lake trip this September. Lake Chelan, WA then Yellowstone Lake followed up by Flaming Gorge. Neither of these three lakes are expected to have low water level issues this fall. We will add in a few days on either Jackson Lake, Flathead Lake or Lake Coeur d'alene depending on the water levels.

Jill and I are interested in going to Lake Powell after a Summer season in the PNW (including hopefully Canada this year).

Catherine & I are are Interested in joining you guys to Powell this September. I’ve been watching the water levels too, were also planning for a San Juan trip in July/ August- hoping for some type of rendezvous with Ranger Tug

Thanks for the link Vicki n Al. I did check the current water level and see it is down far enough that access to several key places are closed off. We’ll keep an eye out on this as we get further into the spring n early summer for evaluation. As I stated in the initial post I’m just trying to get a sense of interest at this time, in the event it can work from various fronts....water level, COVID restrictions and for us getting our boat in time. Keep posting of your possible interest and we’ll see what happens.

I don't know any of you nor do you know me (Lorne and my wife Dayna), but I may be up for lake Powell in September!
I have a new to us C30 on a trailer and the lake is about 9hr/600 miles north of New Mexico. I was thinking of April this year, but it may by really cold water still.
Any thoughts on where to launch, Bullfrog, Page, etc?

According to the information on the link in Vicki n Al’s post only Wahweap, by Page, and another are useable. Bullfrog is listed as non useable and 5 feet below being able to do so.

Wahweap, north of Page, is the last major launch ramp to close when the water level gets low. Wahweap, Bull Frog and Halls Crossing have plenty of truck+trailer parking if the water level is up in late spring and early summer. All 3 have gas and diesel pumps, showers, trash dumpsters, pump outs (adapter needed), overnight moorage, small stores (just very minimal food) and fresh water.
As of last year Dangling Rope has gas, trash dumpster and ice but NO diesel or pump out or fresh water.
My guess is that “The Cut” will be closed by mid-August. It was only 8 ft deep last September and 30 ft lower this year compared to 2020 would make The Cut high and dry.
By the way, diesel and gas are much cheaper if you fuel up before launching. At the Pilot station north of Wahweap we saw diesel at $2.80 a gallon compared to $5.30 a gallon at the marinas.
PS: Showers are way up the hill at Bull Frog but the marina office can arrange a free shuttle. Good tip going up gets you a timely return to the marina.

Sounds fun. Hopefully with a full diesel tank, wont need anything from a marina$$$.
Page is closer to me by a long shot, so all good with that. Bummer on the cut, would have been interesting.

We would be interested in a Lake Powell trip in September. Please keep in touch with us as the time approaches.

San Juan....where?

Serpa4,
It’s a reference to the San Juan islands in NW Washington. The Ranger Tugs factory hosted Rendezvous has been held at Roche Harbor on San Juan Island in early September for quite a number of years now. Cancelled last year due to Covid restrictions.

Would have been impressed if it was San Juan, Puerto Rico!
I do want to hit a big ranger cutwater get together some day.

Serpa4,
Yeah I was a bit confused by that San Juan reference too. There are three major rivers that converge to form Lake Powell - the Colorado, the Escalante and the San Juan River. They call it the San Juan Arm of the lake where the San Juan River joins the Colorado.
Still I think he meant the San Juan Islands in Washington.

Picking up our new C28 in June and have been talking about a fall trip to Lake Powell...It would be fun to join y'all!

If you are thinking of going to Lake Powell I’d highly recommend getting this map of the lake. It was invaluable to us in navigating our way around the canyons. Comes in either laminated (per the link) or plain for about 1/2 price of the laminated version.

Leslie and I might be interested in a late September trip, our boat will be on a lake in Colorado for the Summer and then we are still debating where to head to as our lake freezes up for the late Fall and Winter. We are still planning to be at Roche for the Fourth of July should anyone else have similar plans.

@Serpa4: I think Ranger Tugs/Cutwater also have a rendezvous in Florida, Burnt Store Marina in Punta Gorda. That's the closest location to you unless you want to tow your C30 up here which is entirely possible with RT/C line of boats.
Or maybe joining both rendezvous' would not be that bad of an idea! 😉 I'd love to do both but still have to report to work every morning...

Thanks,
Alex
