Fire broke out this morning on Lake Union in Seattle. Four boats sunk another six damaged. I knew that Willie's Tug was in the area so I checked AIS marine traffic. There they were, about 300 meters south of the Seattle fireboat. I can hear your sigh of relief all the way from the south end of Texas. Herb and Willie, still might be worth a call.

Where was this fire relative to Stimson Marina and Fishermans's Terminal ? Thanks....

[EDIT]
Ok, the fire was south of the Aurora bridge and somewhere between the bridge and the southern tip of Lake Union.

Thanks Cary,

At 3:24pm, I got a notice that my Spot Trace was working OK. So at least it did not get hot enough to shut it down. Guess I still own a boat...

Looks like the Fireboat is at Waterline Boats the Helmsman dealer. I do not know if that is where the fire was or not though.

Yep, that's the fireboat mopping up. Preliminary cause: "unattended candle".

After this incident most Marinas are likely to insist that live-a-boards don't use candles and the like on their boats... as well as making sure all have fire extinguishers and CO2 detectors. The wooden constructed marinas are the ones at risk here as those with concrete and metal structures are more resisted to fire damage. There are lots of old decrepit marinas around Lake Union.

Hmmmm, tomorrow I'm relocating my R-21EC to the Stimson Marina almost opposite Fisherman's Terminal which is all wood with fixed dock/slips (i.e., not floating). This Marina was built in 1958 or there abouts. I noticed this marina has a full system of water sprinklers throughout its facility.
