Laurie Ann in the Broughton Islands

The Broughtons are a great opportunity for safe and protected cruising and visiting marinas that are different from anything you will see in the San Juans or Gulf Islands. One distinction we learned while listening to the Environment Canada's weather forecast: "Queen Charlotte Sound" is very different from the area around the Broughtons. "Queen Charlotte Strait" is the best identifier for the these islands. While "Johnstone Strait" touches the southern edge of the islands, it typically has a unique weather pattern all its own.

Thank you for the kind comments on our blog because it encourages me to keep doing it and to make it even better.

Safe travels.

Just finished our cruise of the Broughtons with another R21. People must have thought they were seeing double as they are both red. I have added a link to our photos & narrative. Most interesting place I have boated in so far and would definitely do it again as 2 weeks is not enough to cover it all.

Loved seeing your pictures of the Broughton's and realizing we had such a similar experience. I agree - it is definitely a "must see" cruising grounds!
