I just purchased an R27 with the LED option. The cockpit lights, contrary to my expectations, are not LED. Does anyone know what size they are so I can try to order LED bulbs. I use cockpit lighting on all my boats quite regularly and was expecting them to be LED.
Thanks Scott

I have a Cutwater 30 and have the same question. Thanks.

Good Morning Gentlemen,
Which cockpit lights are you talking about??? All of the standard bulbs should of been changed out for LED this includes the lights on the bottom side of the hardtop.
Please let me know which ones are not LED

Our Nav lights were not LED on our R31 with the package. I was annoyed to figure that out and now I have to figure out where to get some really bright LEDs for those. Suggestions welcome.

I may be missing something here (likely), but we swapped out our incandescent lights inside our boat and the mast head light as well. This was solely to reduce battery use when on the hook. Since the Nav lights are only on when the engine is running, it made no sense to swap them out. The ones the factory installs are to spec. Is it that you want a brighter light?

We certainly need an LED anchor light, and if you are replacing that one you might as well do the nav's as well. We found LEDs tend to last a lot longer when jostled around so that's a plus for having LEDs as nav lights. But nav lights have requirements as to brightness so you can't just throw in any one that fits, it should be bright.

Ranger Tugs stocks the anchor light as LED. Order three of them as the NAV lights are the same. Works great nice and bright, I am sure it meets specs, runs cooler, and lasts longer.

Hello Scott,

I 've purchased from Marinebeam.com with good results.

Here (http://store.marinebeam.com/r27-led-bul ... n-guide-1/) is their page for Ranger R27 LED bulbs. Note that you get the "42mm/44mm Festoon LED Navigation Light Cone End Type Mini-Max" in WHITE for the all-around/anchoring lights and the same bulb in RED or GREEN for the NAV lights.

Unlike incandescent light bulbs (white for everything), you need to get the specific color LED of the nav light for proper brightness.

FAir winds and LEDs,

dave

Anyone know if the R25 anchor/nav lights are the same as on the R27? Seems likely. Hopefully someone can save me the trouble of a trip to the boat to check them out.

As far as I know they are. I never changed my nav lights to LED. I figure when I use them I am running and there is no need to save power. On the other hand the anchor light is LED

Agreed. Anchor and white cabin lights make the most sense. Nav and red cabin lights are only used under power. Though a prior post did make a good point of the durability of Nav lights. On our old C-Dory the nav lights had to be replaced every time they were used in rough conditions. Which was typically the last trip of every season because during the prime of summer no lights necessary 🙂

I don't do much night navigation. If anything it is just before daybreak, but in four years I still have the same bulbs for the nav lights.
