Length of a snubber rope

I would like to hook up to a buoy with a snubber rope. But what length should be the rope ? I have a 27 tug I have the snubber but do not know how far away from the buoy I should be. Just need the distance not type of rope extra.

I used a 15 foot line to the buoy with a snubber on my previous boat over the summer months. Worked out well.
