We had a fantastic time at Ganges, BC last weekend. It was so great to meet and talk to so many folks who watch our YouTube channel. We were so appreciative of all the great compliments we received.

We have a lot of fun on our boat and enjoy sharing everything that we're doing. We hear from so many of you on a regular basis; we love it.

As this boating season is officially under way, if you follow us on AIS via marinetraffic dot com, feel free to hail us on VHF 16. If you see us on the dock or anchorage, stop by and say hi.

If you want us to open the hatches to see how we upgraded something, just ask, we'll gladly show you. If you're interested in an upgrade for your boat, feel free to ask.

If you want to be in a video, let's go boating together. Or, if you'd just rather lose at a game of cribbage, let me know as I can definitely help. 🙂

Just make sure I get recognition in your video when I beat you in cribbage on the 4th of July,

It may take several games before I'm able to capture that on video.

Martin & LaZina - It was great to bump into you at the docks yesterday. Would have loved to chat your ear off some more, but it looked like you had your hands full and had had a long day fishing wires.

As boating newbies, it was our inaugural overnight away from our home marina as well as first time getting fuel at the dock. Other than a choppy ride home, it was all a success so now we will be confident venturing further afield. Since we are just over in Langley, I hope we can cross paths again soon.

It was great meeting with you as well. We were tired and hungry as we'd been down at the boat all day finishing up the last few items of the communications upgrade.

I ran the XM radio antenna from the base of the mast (inside the cabin), to the starboard side, down the wall, into the cave, forward under the helm seat, up under the throttle, into the helm, and then behind the chart plotter. I had about a foot of cable to spare. Now I can listen to Ozzy's Boneyard on XM Radio with the best signal, as the XM antenna is right next to the anchor light. I also shoved a piece of 3/4" split loom up into the hole I cut in the roof to protect the 8 antenna cables from chaffing.
I benchmarked 150mbs on t-mobile in my slip at Everett.

Lastly, I connected my Vesper AIS and the Victron CerboGX both to the Internet WIFI for the boat that's connected via LTE.

We now get AIS targets appearing on Navioncs on our phones and tablets when on the boat. I get solar power and battery status of my boat on my phone from anywhere (at home, etc...)

We should plan like a dinner or something. We could bring the boat over to Langley and cook on the boat.

We saw you today as you were getting ready to leave. We headed out briefly looking for a calm spot to make a couple of videos. One specifically on what app's I use for weather, planning trips, and boating in general. It was too bumpy out around Hat Island, so we ended up over on the Jetty Island dock.

I've now (officially) taken off all my "upgrade" tools from the boat and am back to just my normal toolsets. We're headed over to Port Ludlow this Friday/Saturday with the Everett Yacht Club.

Great Stuff Martin,

I was able to share my GPS output from the Pepwave Router to Navionics using the TCP Protocol and Port Number. I get very good GPS data on my iPad and also share a poor mans AIS using Boat Beacon app. In test phase now, but seems to work well and is NOT 100%.

As far as Victron, have you shared your boat on VRM World? It's nice to be able to see your boat info from anywhere in the world and also see it on a map (protected by not sharing exact location) and seeing the data. Just a thought, if you go to the Victron world map and look in the Chesapeake bay region, you will see "Touch and Go" listed.

By the way, the autoglide system is great, the ride has been great so far!

Safe boating!

Thanks! My tablet and phones all have GPS in them, and AIS comes from the Vesper XB8000 I installed a year ago. I really like the WIFI functionality of the Vesper XB8000.

I set up VRM World this morning with my CerboGX. Using the VRM app on my phone I can easily see battery status and solar power status from anywhere (home, etc...). So far, it's not very exciting as my boat is under cover, so the solar panels aren't effective. But when we head out boating later this week it'll get more interesting as you'll be able to see solar and LFP working together. I did make it so anybody can view the stat's. I also looked up Touch and Go and found you there.

Here's Channel Surfing on VRM World.

We saw you headed out, and then saw you a bit later cruising back upriver so figured it was too bumpy out there. When we headed back to Whidbey, it was definitely slow going but luckily we werent in a hurry.

That must be a great feeling to be 'done' with upgrades. But we all know that the upgrades never end =)

Definitely! Since Langley is so small and it is our home port, we feel kind of like the unofficial Ranger Tugs welcome committee. If anybody is stopping by, let us know and we would love to get together.

Incidentally... we'll be at Port Ludlow Friday/Saturday/Sunday this weekend. (June 17/18), leaving Sunday morning for Fathers day.

We'll also be at Friday Harbor for the 4th of July weekend. (June 30 - July 5).

And shrimp season opens July 7-9... We'll be nearby Roche Harbor. (probably anchor out of Prevost Harbor). If not Prevost, maybe anchor out of Roche. We'll be near Spieden Island.

Subject to change based on weather as always... but thus far, this is the plan...
