For the 2013 models, the propane take compartment is on the swim step. Which raises a question: where to put the lettering for the boat name? With the propane tank enclosure on the swim step, can it fit at all on the stern transom? If it can, not sure it would be visible enough to matter.

We may not have had too many 2013 owners faced with this yet. Looking for any advice from any who have. AUKLET and Cetic Sun are good examples of boats with names not on the transom, and on the side instead. Everyone's thoughts?

In advance, thank!

Gini,

We have a 2013 R-27. We put the name to the left of the propane locker and the hailing port on the locker. In addition, we put both on the fiberglass dinghy bottom which will be the only thing visible most of the time because of it being attached to the Weaver davits.

On our 2012 R-27, we put the boat name on the transom, and the homeport on the propane locker. We put the jumping Aussie art on the port side transom.

Works ok for us as long as we don't have a dinghy yet.

And it is Grand Lettering on the "Blue Merle" almost as outstanding as "Little Tug Boots"
😎

Hey John and Boots!

Happy Easter!

We don't plan to have a dingy, so the way some of you have done it could work for us too. Bill, thanks for posting the pic of Blue Merle's lettering. Really helpful!

Peter at Winter Island Yachts had a great idea. He made a panel that screwed to the rub rail for the name and put the hailing port on the propane compartment. Gipetto had it on their boat. If your boat is documented the lettering size is important and I am not sure if you can meet that requirement without having the panel installed.

Yes, a very interesting idea. If anyone has a photo of anything similar, it would be great to see it as implemented. A panel with the same gelcoat as the hull would, of course, be ideal for that. We haven't yet decided whether to document the boat through the Coast Guard. That's on my list of things to check out (which I manage to add new things to just about as quickly as I check them off 😉 ).

We have a 2013 Claret Red R29. We worked with Margaux from Marguax's Marine Graphics (we got her information from the Ranger Tug website) to come up with the perfect font and color for our lettering for Claire. We were looking for a blue jean and pearls kind of look and she was able to help us out with that easily. She worked with Howard to put the graphics on at the factory so when we took delivery Claire was good to go! Marguax did a great job and we could not be happier. We put our name on the white part on the back above the propane locker and our home port on the locker. We are documented so we also have the name on the port and starboard side as well. Best of luck, we know its not easy to decide.

We would post some pictures but we haven't figured that out. We need a tug nut tutorial 😀

Mark and Beth - we will be working with Margaux too. We've already been in contact with her. Your solution sounds like it might be a good one for us too. If you do figure out how to post those photos, we'd love to see how it turned out for you! Thanks for sharing the solution that you and Margaux came up with.

We are putting the boat the boat name on the white portion of the stern just under the flag in the same color as the hull and the hailing port just above the locker in white. La.ter I plan to paint both on the dinghy but because we are documented both name and port must be on the hull.

We too used Margaux for Solitude, Karma, and Destiny and now our Boston Whaler. She does incredible work at a very reasonable price.

Just to clarify though, you do not need to place the name and hailing port on the port and starboard sides. It is required to just have it in one location on your vessel. Margaux educated me on this when we were having Destiny done.

We have a 2013 R29 and had the same concerns. We also worked with Margaux. She has the dimensions for transom and propane cover so she was able to work our ideas into the space available. She emailed designs back and forth with us. Give us your email address and we'll send some pix of the name and hailing port. She was great. We also put the name on the bow.

Hi Gini, if these pictures didn't attach, check out our album. Claire - The Beginning. There you will find a couple pictures of our graphics.

Cheers! Mark and Beth

This is how ours is laid out.

Claire and Cocoa Gold -- thanks for posting the pics. Very helpful. I suspect on our R-27 we are working with a bit less space than you have on your bigger boats. But still, your graphics give us a good idea of the possibilities. Fine looking boats, as well!

Gini

Hi Gini. We had Margaux do our lettering on both our 2012 R29 and our 2013 R31. We chose to put the name only on our R31 and we had Marguax do name and port on the dinghy. There are pictures in our album Sand Dollar II.

To echo others, Margaux does great work, very reasonable and has lots of ideas. She knows every Ranger model so an excellent resource

Enjoy your new boat

Cheers

Kathy

Kathy, I will check out the pics of Sand Dollar II. We've heard nothing but raves about Margaux. We are already in touch with her, and we know we are in good hands with her. Thanks for letting me know about your pics. And yes, we will definitely enjoy the boat!!
