Finally, after a very frustrating experience, all of the issues with Ladybug, Too have been resolved. Someone advised me to play dumb and beat up the insurance company until it was fixed. That doesn't work here on the Redneck Riviera. Ultimately the tally is well over $16k with the following Yanmar 6BY2-260 Parts: ECU Computer, two of three engine harnesses, control head, key switch panel, interface module, rail pressure sender, rail pressure control valve, fuel volume regulator, two relays and the glow plug controller. Until the control head issue was discovered, no P Codes were generated for anything but the rail pressure, fuel filter water sender and supply sensor 1. When the position sender was disconnected the remaining P-Codes showed up on the OBD2 Scanner and the repairs were fairly easy but expensive. Charlie Stewart (Charlie's Diesel and Marine, Elberta, AL) drove all night to the Atlanta Yanmar Center with our ECU computer. The Yanmar techs put it of their test harness and it was functioning normally. After recognizing Charlie's effort, Atlanta allowed us to use their engine test harness and the problem was resolved without having to buy an engine interface harness. We are forever grateful to Charlie. It was quite a learning experience because we have always been gasoline powered and built up our own systems. The Yanmar is a very robust and reliable system but lightning can do things unimaginable.
I have learned that the 6BY2 will run on only three injectors; that the rail pressure sensor can be unplugged and it will start and run (safe mode only); it will run without the camshaft sensor but it is graveyard dead when the cranshaft sensor fails; the control head on our analog unit has two signals one of which is position and it will run without that signal (safe mode only) and finally, the i5601 display with software version 4.01 will do amazing things.
Happy to be powered up again. Paid nephew to put on wet suit and clean the wheel and the bottom. Beats me doing it!
