With the new forum, I wasn’t surprised at first that Ranger wanted to keep questions to them to be answered only by them. But what happens if the answer isn’t as complete as what users might share?

For example, someone just asked about how to tie their kicker to their main on an R23. The response was Tailfin or Panther, neither of which has throttle control or GPS steering from what I know. My boat came with Panther remote and it is now in the bin of used boat parts. It was difficult to control. It would freeze in the tube. It had no throttle control. I installed a Garmin Reactor 40 Kicker autopilot. https://www.garmin.com/en-CA/p/672710/pn/010-00705-95 When fishing, I can set my course and not have to constantly adjust for wind and current like I did with the Panther. It is lights out a better option than Panther but not suggested by the Factory response.

i know many people tie their Main to their Kicker, so that is also an option. I don’t like that for fishing as all the controls remain at the helm and not where the action is in the cockpit.

So, it would be good to either open up the Forum for other people to respond or people should limit their Factory questions.

Thanks for the advice I will repost my question in this Forum for advice. I don't think I received a fully qualified answer from the Ranger Tugs customer service rep.

We implemented the change to Ask The Factory forums in order to make it clear the conversation is between the boat owner and the factory team, and are investing additional resources to achieve this goal. We encourage you to also post to open forums if you a seeking advice from the tugnuts community.

I’d suggest that the factory distinguish their responses. If the question is about ancillary products installed, the factory response could be an explanation about what and why the products were installed but suggest the question be posted to the general chat for other users experience. In this case, the product and response, IMHO, is clearly inferior. There are better options than what the factory has installed and responded.

While I like this change, the first time I used it I was unable to ask a follow-up question. Can that ability be added? Leave the thread open to the original poster and staff for at least a week?
