I just found buried in my computer a file containing a list of Volvo D4 spares, part numbers and their costs for the new 29. Has anyone a list of spares for the Yanmar 6BY2-260 ? Can you post or pm, please.

Ask any Yanmar dealer. They can provide a service kit for the engine containing all the necessary parts in a nice water tight plastic reusable box. They can all get the service manuals which I carry with me all the time.

So, having purchased Bubbles in April, I am mustering the fortitude to attempt my first oil change. I am not a mechanical wizard. Far from it. dante3756 on November 8 posted a list of Yanmar spares including an oil filter - 165000-69590. Adiamo's blog lists as an oil filter compatible with the Yanmar, the Mahle Brand, Model OX177/3D. I went to a couple of auto supply stores. They did not have the Mahle but cross-referenced it and came up with a Fram CH999 4 and a Mann HU721/4x. They cost $25. The Yanmar costs $88. So I am keen to use the former. Is there any reason why I should not? Thanks in advance.

Not specifically for the Yanmar engine, but Kenny at Ranger Tugs suggested carrying a spare cover for the sea strainer. If that cracked, you would have to close the sea cock to prevent flooding, then have no raw water flow to get you home.

There is a fair bit of negative info on line about Fram filters. Why, I don't know. The Mann filter is listed for BMW's so a cross reference and cost there might be interesting.

Dante3756 includes in the list of spare parts the sea water pump belt - 120650-42360. Should one also include the alternator belt? If that is not necessary, I would be interested in the reasons why. If it is prudent to have it, If would be grateful for the part number. Thanks, Jim.
