This has been slowly spreading around and Bruce found a great article that shows what is going on. Ranger Tugs initially purchased these cylinders from Seaward Company who had recently sold to Whale. I am currently working with Whale to come up with a new metal tank design and new lid that holds these in place. We used these cylinders on Ranger Tug R29's that had the propane option installed underneath the outside sink in the cockpit. If you have one of these fiberglass tanks, I would remove it from the boat and discontinue use.

I should have a test unit when I return to work tomorrow. As soon as I verify fitment, I will communicate with Whale to determine how many I think we have in the field so we have enough to start with the replacement program. Although this is not going to be a free replacement, I am going to try and participate with all of our owners with these installed tanks to make it a reasonable exchange.

If you have one of these tanks, please reply directly to my work email with the following information.
