During the survey of my 2012 R27, one issue uncovered was a live 12VDC wire for a downrigger installation located in the small storage locker under the starboard entry step. The wire and companion ground were discovered cut clean, but not sealed in any way- not even with electrical tape. The 12VDC wire end was heavily corroded. I capped both wires with a wire nut.

I've become acquainted with another Louisville boater who has purchased a new R27 and I checked the storage locker on his boat for the wires and sure enough, there was a clean cut, but unsealed live 12VDC wire labeled "starboard downrigger". A wire nut was added.

Is there port downrigger live wire? If so, where might I look for it?

In the port cockpit locker, up under the lip is a wiring bundle that goes thru a tube. The downrigger wire is folded up and in that tube. The fuse block in the port locker has two 40 amp fuses for downriggers.

I just pulled the fuses, left and right. Thinking someday I'll think of something to wire up back in the cockpit.
