1 Do any R25SC's have a propane stove/oven installed ? Not sure there is room.

2 Have seen R27's with a propane stove/oven installed - is this very common ? This is what we would prefer. I know
most things can be retrofitted, but has anyone done it?

3 Can the air conditioner be run while on the hook ? Assume generator will supply enough power ?

4 Don't want a Ford/Chevy/Dodge debate, but would prefer a Yanmar over Volvo Penta. Have boating friends with VP
stories. Had a Volvo diesel in a previous boat. What are the big differences ?

5 Ideal RT 25SC or 27 would have Solar, propane stove/oven, AC, trailer, generator. Love being on the hook.

Thanks, Mark&Jane

Don't get hung up on the oven. We have never used ours and get by without it. Others use it. I find that it makes the cabin hot. I use the microwave, grill or cook top and found the oven to be a great storage place.

Yes, but I wouldn't be running the generator while sleeping at night. It is not courtious to other boaters and I am always concerned about carbon dioxide.

No difference. I have the Yanmar. Service and parts are probably less expensive and mechanics more plentiful.

We have the 27 with all you want except the generator. I don't miss having a generator, but then again you don't necessarily miss what you never had.

Greetings!

We have 2014 R25SC which we bought from the factory in Aug 2013 and just love. It has single burner propane stove, no oven. When the Sport Cockpit version replaced the "classic" the increase in cockpit size came by reducing the length of the galley. Second burner would be too close to bulkhead to the head compartment for safety standards. Hence no oven.

I believe the R25 Classics do have two burners and an oven.

We generally cook on stove top or on propane grill in cockpit. Louise works wonders with an "Omni" oven. It looks like an angelfood cake tin. It sits on the burner and makes fresh bread in the morning and roast chicken at night (amongst other delights).

We used our microwave for storage, but that was inconvenient. We removed the microwave and finished that space to hold charts, logs, etc.

We own a 2011 R27, Miss Jilly, Bought used in 2014. Has baby genset(MASE) , Propane stove, AC and lots of other 'toys'. Do my own MX work (if I can fit in the required claustrophobic spaces)
Have taken numerous cruises over 200 miles. (this is not an off shore boat!!) As an ex sailor and retired Marine Surveyor, I admire the vessel's build albeit tiny below (downsized from Ocean going catamaran, I keep watching in amazement the fuel flow - but hey we're goin' faster!

Have the Yanmar 4BY-180 - good powerful engine but replaceable parts are $$$. GenSet works fine = use it for AC during cruising and anchoring - hot and steamy here in NC. Have had to replace it's water pump impeller twice - easy to do.
GenSet will shut down occasionally running the AC for long periods - overloads. If you use at anchor make sure your CO detector is working - Suggest never run GenSet at nite while sleeping - CO kills.
Use the propane stove/oven an average amount - no issues - again, make sure your propane sniffer alarm works. always shut down and manually close the tank valve when not in use.
Recommendations above based on 15+yrs as a Surveyor and 10,000+ miles as offshore sailor.
Enjoy the boat!!

The R25 Classics do not have a oven but do have a two burner kerosene cook top. We carry a small microwave in the cave and use it when on shore power. Since we don't have solar power, we have a Honda 2000 generator which we plan to take on trips where we might be anchoring/mooring at the same location for a couple of days in a row.

I got my r27 without stove and oven. I use an induction plate that can actually run on the inverter and of course a BBQ. Also have a small portable Honda genset

Thank you all for your replies. We were able to see a R25SC that was nearby. Would love to inspect a R27 - we live in Dallas, so if anyone is towing a R27 near Dallas and would like to show us, please let us know.

Thanks, Mark & Jane
