I live in Friday Harbor, WA and am looking for a trailer for a 21EC. Considering new or used and want to know if there is a good match (brand and model) for the 21. Thanks for any info.

Mine is an EZ loader. I ordered it through Fluid Motion last December. It was made here in Washington.

Easy Loader Model # EZB 19-22/24 3700
Hope this helps Bob

Thank you for the info. Model number really helps. I have calls into FM and dealers near us.

I have a single axle EZ Loader which I believe came with the boat new. It is of very high quality almost all aluminum construction, and has adequate capacity for the boat, but I don't really know what the pros and cons are on singe vs double axle. Single axle, a tire blows and the rim is on the ground with half the weight of the boat on it. Likely to damage rim.
But, with double axle, if a tire goes flat, seems to me you might not know it until the newly overloaded tire on that side overheats and also blows. I had two blowouts in consecutive days before I learned about trailer tire quality, and maybe by luck did not damage the rims.

Based on my experience and recent discussion of trailer tires, it seems we should be replacing our tires at least every four years. Double axle double cost. Probably a bit of a Ford vs Chevy argument.

I prefer double axle because it adds a degree of safety while trailering. Had friends end up in the ditch some years ago when they lost a tire on the passenger side. Trailer went for the edge of the road and pulled the tow vehicle with it, so the whole rig ended up laying on it's side in the ditch. This was on a smaller road that was not that great of condition, and they was probably going faster than I would have on those road conditions. The bottom line, I like backups for everything.

My 21EC is on a single axel aluminum bunk Integrity trailer. I run Goodyear Endurance tires that are load rated E and 87 MPH speed rated and USA made.. Each tire is rated for 2830 pounds at 80 PSI ....the 5660 pound capacity gives a very good cushion considering the weight of the tug and trailer. It tows well but is not a tandem for those that prefer that type. The downside might be the fact that Integrity is made in the midwest and some distance for those on either coast.

We’re very pleased with the performance of our Load Rite model 5S-AC24T6000102LTB2...aluminum, tandem, bunks. Whatever you end up with, make sure that it’s configured to provide protection for the running gear. Much better to replace a cross bar on a trailer than to have to straighten your rudder/prop/etc.!
