Loose ground

I have a 2011 r25sc. I recently pulled out my bait tank to turn it into a live well. Below the bait tank was a heavy gauge, loose, green grounding wire not connected to anything. The obvious question comes to mind-Should this wire be connected to something? Is it there for a future use? Loose wires like this really worry me as the harbor I am in has issues with electrolysis so I want to make sure my boat is protected as it can be.

I already use a hanging zinc near the prop/rudder that I connect to the shaft grounding point. I have zinc donuts on all the swim step struts. The boat is in the salt water about 6 months at Newport. Advise? As a user it would be really keen if these loose wires (there are more than one) had labels so boaters would know what's up. (Labels are cheap and easy).

I'm trying to recall what I saw on my MY2010 R-25 in that area… If I'm recalling correctly I believe I saw a green wire (must have been at least 10 gauge) attached to the rudder bracket/bracing on inside of the transom. Just a thought… but would call Andrew or Kenny to get their input on this.

Same thing with my 2007 R-25. The wire should be attached to the rudder.

Have you reattached the green wire yet? Any green wire on the boat is going to be part of the bonding system. If you have any further questions just let me know.

I will attach it. Of course one wonders why wasn't it attached? It seems to me I have another green wire that is not attached to anything. I had better find it and ask about that one as well.

If you find a green wire that's not attached but in a harness I wouldn't be to concerned. We pre-wire boats for Gen and AC for example. When we install these systems we also install two more seacocks. The green wire would then be attached to the seacock. Let me know once you find the wire you are referring to.
