On my 2016 Cutwater 26 the 7610 warning manager shows “Lost Heading Sensor Connection” followed by “Connection with Autopilot Lost”, and the AP portion of the 7610 screen goes blank. This has just started to happen, on 3 different trips now about 1 hour into each trip. The next day the AP on the 7610 comes up fine, works for about 1 hour and then shuts down as described above. The AP still works in Heading Hold mode and can be controlled from the little Garmin AP display (GHC20).
Since Heading Hold works the CCU has power and a good connection to the ECU. So the problem could be with the CCU connection to the NMEA 2000 backbone. But if that is the case why does things work fine for the first hour, then fail for the rest of the trip, only to work fine again the next day (for the first hour)? I’m stumped. Any ideas would be welcomed.
