I've never lowered the mast on our Ranger 25 SC. Before I do so and screw something up, is there any trick, procedure, etc. I need to know?
Thanks.

Disconnect the two support guides, loosen the halyard, remove the two thumb screws. The mast will now be able to hinge downward, hold on as there is some weight to it. Raise the support bracket and insert the pin, attach the support guides.
Might be good to have a helper the first time you do it.

And be careful not to drop the little plastic wingnuts!

Also, if you have radar mounted on the mast, I've been told that water can get in the radar scanning unit if it rains when you have it down. Just something to be aware of.

In addition to these good tips I reattach the two guide supports back onto them selves onto the cable just below the mast light before I lower the mast onto the support stand. This keeps them out of the way while lowering the mast as well as keeping the loose ends off of the gelcoat and scratching it. Once the mast is attached to the support stand I then secure the guides properly. Lastly I found the inserted pin can work its way out (half way one time for me on a long haul) so I've changed the pin out for a tension locking pin unit that can not come out.
