First I’d check the fuse, and then check the wiring with a multi meter. If still not working check your switch, and after that probably time to replace the pump!

Sometimes those pumps if they have gone unused for a while will freeze up, The macerator end should have a plastic cap, that when removed will allow you to get a tool, flat blade screwdriver if I remember. You should be able to get it to turn from there. You will probably need to reset breaker or replace fuse. Worth a try, worked for me a couple of times. Dan

First the good news. The 2014 C-28 has the rear centerline black water tank if I remember correctly. The macerator pump should be close by and, hopefully, easy to access. If so, it would be easy to replace the pump if necessary. In our R-25 Classic, with tight access to the pump, it was a 45 minute job. I went with the SeaFlo pump for about $100 but Johnson and Amarine macerators get good reviews too.

Thanks for the input. I will check electrical continuity. The pump has not been used for some time so it is likely the blades are frozen in place. I will look for the removable cap as suggested.

Might not be relevant but my macerated pump was fused through winless (I believe or perhaps down rigger) when fur was reset or replaced problem was solved. Wiring on boats - at least in the early days- had a somewhat mystical wiring logic. Good luck.

Interesting about possible wiring of the macerator power supply. I see in the Owner's Manual wiring diagram that there should be a circuit breaker before the switch. I wonder if this is the same CB, on the head panel, that feeds the windless. OR, is there another CB that I can't find. OR does the helm panel switch also serve as CB protection? Many questions with this new to me boat. Thanks for any guidance.

The “nipples” above or below the rocker switch are the reset for the circuit breakers, in my understanding, which are built into the switches. The entire switch panel itself has a 30a fuse on my boat, and then each switch has its own breaker.

Incidentally, my macerator is also now not working. I filled my holding tank with water after several rinses to exercise the macerator to prevent this very thing from happening and here we are. New one awaits at fisheries…

Thanks for the follow-up and information on the switch/CB. What I have found is that the breaker has not tripped. With the switch closed I do have power at the pump and just received a new pump to install (not easy). Hopefully this will solve the problem.

I can commiserate about it not being easy... Access is under the primary stateroom bed on my C30, but it appears the hoses were secured with some kind of sealant in addition to the hose clamps. Probably going to need a heat gun... the joy of boat ownership. Which pump did you go with? Mine originally had the Johnson SPX macerator pump, I opted for the Jabsco this time. I really wanted the Raritan, but they are 3x more money and I couldn't justify it for something that will likely fail again. 🙂

The pump I purchased is a Johnson 10-24453-01; same as original. I have not installed it yet but from past experience, I do recommend a heat gun. I also purchased a set of “hose picks” that should help free the hose from the barbed fitting. You can google to see…. good luck!

mine wasn't. do to lack of use, bearing was stuck. blew the fuse each time I replaced it. took it apart, freed up the motor. good as new.

if it powers on: first is to prime it pushing water back up. then new impeller.
