I purchased my used Tug last year without the trailer. I was lucky enough to find a trailer 200 miles away, but now have a couple of questions. First towards the bow of the trailer there is a 2x4 taped to the trailer, should there be a keel roller assembly there instead? My second question is about the stern end of the bunks, I hope the picture explains it good enough.

Was the trailer previously used for an R21? It is not a great fit, as you suspect.

Just off hand, I believe you need to at least adjust the bunks. It would be easier if you could find a marina which will sling your boat in a travel-lift and let you adjust the bunks. but it can be done if you are careful with the boat resting in place. The pressure point where you say the carpet is worn is probably more severe than it should be with what appears to be an unsupported area behind it. Whether it is damaging or not is questionable, but the fit is not as good as it should be.

It would also be better to have a roller where the bow is resting. The 2x4 is workable if the balance of the bunks are adjusted properly because the bow roller mainly supports the boat as it bounces a bit on the highway. The molding is quite beefy up there. However, a roller would be a bit more forgiving. The way we retrieve our boat, the roller is used as the first contact point and is how I make sure the boat is centered up forward. A roller would make that easier on the boat, too. (We have side rails which center the stern as the boat comes up out of the water. Those would help, too.) You should be able to find brackets and a roller to go there, if not locally then from the trailer manufacturer.

The trailer is a 2009 model, I talked with Magic Tilt last year and gave them the serial number from the trailer and they gave my the bunk height and width measurements that went with the trailer for a 2010 21EC. I think I'm going to add a keel roller where the 2x4 currently is attached.

The bunks appear a bit to long as they ride where the hull flattens out, basically under the stern lazarette. I would appreciate pictures of other 21EC's sitting on their trailers. Thanks

Here is the setup on our EZ-Loader trailer. You can also see how side rails can be of help. The bunks are 11' long.

The stern end of the bunk ends about 4' from the stern.

The forward end of the bunk ends about 3 1/2' from the roller. There is a small area, about a foot, where the curve of the bow carries the boat higher than the bunk but the boat rests pretty solidly on the rest of the 10' of bunk.

Notice how the bunks curve to fit the hull perfectly, supporting it to the maximum with minimum pressure points. You can just see to the right edge how the hull lifts a bit from the forward-most portion of the bunk.

The bow on the roller.

I hope that helps you get set up.

Let me try that again.......sorry.
