Just took our new-to-us R27 for a 4 day voyage through the San Juans. We did it all, 6 islands, docking, anchoring, mooring balls, sunshine and water like glass, torrential rain and rough seas, couldn't have asked for a better shake down cruise.

My goal for this trip was to get my wife to fall madly in love with cruising on this little tug. I stacked the deck in my favor by flying our daughter up for the voyage. She's quite the boatwoman and she and I work together beautifully (we sail and race together). Plus, I'm horrible at providing instruction to my wife, whereas she's got the perfect touch with that.

Mission accomplished! We had a blast, all went swimmingly, and the wifeypoo can't wait for future voyages. She's even talking Great Loop and ordering books on the subject (after the Alaska cruise that she's also looking forward to)!

But I gotta say, after many years of sailing I certainly felt like I was cheating the whole time. Docking and maneuvering with those thrusters is just ridiculous. The amount of information available to me on the Garmin system is obscene, and the idea of actually pointing a boat in the direction you want to go will take some getting used to!
