Majestic TV as monitor for Garmin Chartplotter on C28?

Have any of you C28 owners connected the Majestic TV as a second monitor for your Garmin chart plotter? I think this is done on the C30 or R30 models, but not sure if it can be done in the C28. We have the 2015 C28 with the Garmin 7212. I know the 7212 is getting a little long in the tooth, but it will have to do for another year or so until I upgrade to the 8612, but I also don't want to upgrade now if Garmin will be moving on from the 8612 anytime soon. Any news on when Garmin will move beyond the 8612? Thanks.

Hi Paul,

Our R27 has the same Majestic TV and Garmin GPSmap7212 and it plays the Garmin info just fine to the TV with the standard factory setup. I would think the C28 should be wired the same. On our boat, when the chart plotter and TV are both turned on I use the Source button on the TV remote to select PC. That’s it! TV display now mimics Garmin display.

If that doesn’t work on your TV, I would check the PC connection at the back of the TV. If no connection that is where it should be wired per standard factory cable harness and the method I would use.

Thanks for the input. I'll be at the boat next weekend and will give it a try. I agree, there are some electronic similarities between the R27 and C28.

I had to run a wire and select vga as the source. i don't recall a PC setting or any other wire to the tv except power and antenna.

Just to clarify, you did run a wire? If so, from where to where, exactly? Thank you.

My 2015 R31-CB has the Garmin 7215 unit. If I choose COMPUTER as the source on the majestic tv, it shows the Garmin screen as well as on the Garmin.

Thanks everyone for your input. I pushed "source" on the TV remote and chose "PC" and it worked perfectly - the TV mirrored the chartplotter. So, now when I swing the TV around it provides a larger screen to view from the cockpit when operating the aft helm.
