We are looking at our first Ranger tug, a 2023 Ranger R-27 LE. Of course it is the Yamaha 300 OB, and the lithium battery package. Salesmen don’t always tell you correctly, so I am asking here to get the best info. Without a onboard generator, and the likely hood of staying in an anchorage for multiple days, using the air conditioning and other equipment, I want to know how I will manage the task of keeping the cabin cool and bug free in the south. I have a Honda EU2200i portable generator and have been told I can charge the battery bank via shore cord from the generator. Is this correct, and do you have to shut down house loads while doing this? I’m assuming, maybe incorrectly, that the a/c will run for about a half day off the inverter (batteries), but I don’t see the a/c being on the inverter circuit. It may be as simple as shore cord to generator and let the boat shed what it can’t support? As well as powering what loads it can support and charging banks through the ACR. So if any of this makes sense, could anyone provide some guidance? Thanks in advance!
