Hi Gang,
Has anyone on the forum had any experience with a Manson Supreme 35# anchor on a Cutwater 30? We are considering replacing the factory Bruce with a Manson or Rocna. We are pretty sure the Rocna will fit on the boat because someone has apparently made it work. Without creating a mock-up we don't have any data on how well the Manson will fit.

Thanks in advance.

Kevin

Edit: As was pointed out, Manson Supreme. Thanks for the correction. Mantus...different anchor. I think I had looked at one too many anchor videos this morning.

I think you mean Manson Supreme. I use it on my R-27. Never dragged and it is very similar and less expensive than the Rocna. I had to install a longer bale so you may want to ensure that it will work with your Cutwater setup.

I have a Manson Supreme 35, served me well in 50' depths in Alaska with 100' chain and 200' 8 plait line. Problems I have had is the sever wearing of the gypsy on the winch. So far replaced three of them. Talked with the chain importer in Miami who said the chain was sized to spec on the Lewmar gypsy and in his experience found that there is twist in the chain cause by the anchor turning as its being retrieved or circling in the winds. This slight twist places a small side load on the cheeks of the gypsy which are bronze and the harder steel/galvanizing wears the gypsy. So he suggested using the Mantus Swivel to correct this twist. I know that there is a big debate on swivels, but the Mantus site explains his theory, and he sells a lot of them to the mega-yachts. But you have to start out with straight links from the beginning which means laying out the chain and carefully pulling it in through the gypsy with absolutely no twist. But I am not done yet! Swivel is untried, and I have another theory that because I have so much chain, single handing, I don't have the luxury of powering up to the anchor, but instead ooch it up with the windlass, that maybe, just maybe that extra pull may be wearing the cheeks of the gypsy. So the experiment will commence this summer and this wandering gypsy pulls out of the anchorage.

Does anyone know if the Anchor Mate will work with my new Rocna 15?

TK

I am using a Mantus 25 lb. anchor with the Anchor mate on my R25se ..... should work fine with a rocna 15. You will need to replace the bolt that goes through the roller on the bow roller assembly, so that it's long enough to attach the Anchor mate. Hope this helps....
