Mantus anchor for 2016 C28

Hi. I have the factory Lewmar Claw 16.5 anchor which I don´t like. I want to buy a 25lb Mantus anchor.

Does anybody have a similar set or experience fitting a different anchor on this boat?

Will I need to modify something for it to fit?

I ordered one for my 2016 C28 and it will not work well without mods. I replaced the 16# claw with a 22# claw the first month after a bought my boat. I am currently using the Rocna 22# with a new SS anchor roller as main anchor and the Claw 22 as 2nd anchor.

I have a Rocna 22 also. It fits well but I secure it to the small cleat in front of the windlass so it won't bang on the bow. I keep the boat on a trailer. When launching or hauling out I have to pull the anchor up on the deck so it want hit the trailer pedestal.

When you refer to SS roller is that a stainless steel with different dimensions from the original? Like you I have the Rocna 22# and have to set it on the deck for steeper ramps when loading. Flatter ramps no problem. I also use the cleat to cinch down the shank as the tip of the spade will touch And bounce against the shield if I don’t. I found a company who would fabricate a roller to increase the diameter proportionately to the largest diameter that would fit thinking if I can just pick up even 3/4 of an inch it would all be good. Their $400 price tag was a bit much so I passed. If you have found something that works I would be interested. Have had my Rocna on two boats now and wouldn’t be without it.

Note: Robust build. The dlb rollers hold the anchor very securely when underway. Also, I like knowing I could add a 15 if I thought I needed one. This anchor roller is made for a Rocna 10 or 15. You will need a right angle drill adapter to drill the holes to keep from removing the platform.

When launching, I have had to put the anchor deck one time so far, but it wasn't a big problem.

I have a 2012 C28 and replaced the factory anchor with a Rockna Vulcan 20 lb anchor. Fit perfectly with no modifications. Works great in the Chesapeake Bay.

I finished the installation of the Kingston Stainless Steel anchor bow roller recommended by MartyC. As he stated it is a robust assembly. Used in conjunction with the Rocna 22 lbs it is a perfect fit. The double roller assembly supports the anchor and allows very little movement. The larger size stainless steel frame holds the anchor the proper distance from the hull so there are no concerns of it hitting.
