My wife and I want to trailer our C28 to Marathon next summer and spend a month. If we can get reservations for a slip with 30A service that would be preferred. I do know that the city of Marathon has mooring balls, anchorages, and slips available on a first come, first serve basis. We will be towing 2600 miles one way to get there and we really need some good intel so we have someplace to stay. Any information, tips, or ideas are much appreciated. Right now we do not have a dingy, but realize this will likely be required. We also have a portable 2000w generator that we will bring.

Call Blackfin Resort in Marathon. It is nothing special but has clean newer docks that are perfect for a 28' boat. They have a launch ramp that you can use to launch the boat in the harbor and have an area where you can store your trailer. We stayed there last winter for 4 days and wish we would have stayed longer. It was a laid back place. It is a 1960's resort but has what you need to enjoy your stay. Nothing fancy ! It seems to be a go to place for Ranger Tugs. There were a few there when we were there.

Thanks Brian. We have rented across the street from them last year. I emailed them, but will follow up with a phone call.
I have also been reading Jim and Lisa Favors blog as well...

I’ll echo Blackfin, we’ve stayed there 4 or so times over the years, wonderful people and great for grocery shopping, Home Depot n a few restaurants within walking distance. If you want something fancier and or more modern there are a few to choose from but I’ve forgotten there names.

Marathon Marina has a nice pool & bar/restaurant on site. Will be there in Feb/March for a month. I think the cost is about $900.00.

We've stayed at the Marathon Marina and enjoyed our time there. We've also stayed at Bahia Honda State Park Marina and found it very, very reasonable but there isn't much there. Sandwiches, pizza, etc is available at the gift shop but that's about it. Beautiful beaches and a small Marina did make it relaxing. There is a bus stop outside the gate we used to go to Key West and Marathon, for supplies, entertainment, etc. Wouldn't want to stay there for weeks on end but a great place to spend a few relaxing days.
We've also stayed at Blackfin and Faro Blanco. I liked Blackfin, the wife liked Faro, I think it was the spa and attention of the dock "butlers ".
There are plenty of great places but make sure you book early as they fill up quickly!

Good luck and spend lots of money.......our economy needs it. 😉
