Off ~ 10 days week of July 4th and we are in Fort Myers FL.
Thinking of traveling the above area during this time.
Any recs on Marinas/anchorages to try?
thx

We always stop at the Crow's Nest Marina at the Venice inlet. Docking can be tricky when the tide is coming or going, but the staff is great at helping with directions and line handling.
We stop here mainly for the restaurant and tap beer, but the boat and people watching are also entertaining. The sunsets are fantastic. The park across the inlet fills up with people to watch the sun slip into the Gulf, and they put on a fireworks show on certain nights as well.
Another stop is on the Manatee River and is a Safe Harbor Marina, Regatta Pointe Marina. The Marina is a typical Marina, but the restaurant, the River House, is located on the end of the pier, giving diners a great view of the river, boat traffic, and a beautiful sunset. There is also an outside pub called the Snook, I believe, where you can just have docktails and/ or a bite to eat. They also have free bicycles for use by transients and a Publix a few blocks away.
Bradenton Beach Marina is right on the main shopping area of Anna Maria where you catch the shuttle that goes up and down the main road giving you access to all of the great restaurants, little shops, beaches, etc. The only problem is that the marina is very popular, which makes it hard to get a slip.
Hope this helps.

Thank you Terry!

Crow’s Nest is great! Marina Jack’s in downtown Sarasota is also a good choice. There are many others along the way to choose from.

Do any of these places have a good 4th of July Fireworks show? We'd like to be there for the 4th at least.

I forgot to mention Marina Jack's, excellent stop Gordon! Downtown Sarasota has some great places to visit and a lot of excellent restaurants.
Hey Someday, I noticed you're coming up from Ft. Myers, how are things going in your area? We are planning a trip down through the Okeechobee and up to the St John's River but our local news out of Tampa says the waterway south of Venice is still having issues with navigation markers missing, sunken boats, etc.
I hope things are getting better for you and the great people of Ft Myers. We always enjoyed visiting there on our way to the Keys and back....no finer people!
Terry

PS If your anywhere near downtown Sarasota or at the Crow's Nest you'll have a front row seat for the 4th of July fireworks.

Downtown Tampa has a great fireworks show but it could be hard to find an open berth at the Convention Center marina (they go quickly). We’ve stayed at the St. Petersburg Municipal Marina on the 4th. The have a great fireworks show right at the Pier, along with a full evening of entertainment, food and drink booths, etc. Just about every municipality in the Tampa/Sarasota/Clearwater/St. Petersburg area has some sort of show.

Things are slowly coming together here in FM...we took the tug up to an anchorage between Useppa and Cabbage key this weekend so that's as far North as we have been. No problem with navigation markers etc. Biggest "problem" though was so much floating weed and ? mossy like weed that it clogged up the generator and A/C raw water filters...so that was another lesson learned getting those cleared as even the intake hoses were clogged. (and it will be no shock to anyone that the generator (and thus the A/C) shut down at the convenient time of at 5:30 AM  )

We weren’t able to make this trip last July…any other suggestions for this July?(just got back into our house 2 months ago post Ian) Thanks
