Hello fellow Victoria / Vancouver boat owners
We have just purchased a 2011 R21 EC and need to purchase a number of accessories for her. Can you please recommend where the best place (most economical - if there is such a place) to buy marine accessories (i.e., life jackets, rope, fenders, etc.) in the Victoria, up to Nanaimo and Vancouver area?
Thanks so much.
Jayne

You can try Trotac Marine in Victoria, excellent selection and knowledgeable staff, price is competitive. Trotac has a big once a year sale that is well worth going, can't remember when. Check their website. In Duncan there is a smaller owner/operator store Marine Supply 5968 Trans Canada Hwy 250-715-1080, less selection but willing to work with you. Payne Marine is the main marine supplier on the west coast and virtually has a monopoly, avoiding them will save you money. That being said they supply most marine stores!

If you have a Yanmar do not go to the Yanmar dealers for parts unless you have no other choice. Searching this forum for compatible parts will save you money. Buying online is your best option.

Good Luck, Leon

For many of my RT-25 parts and accessories I frequently turn to the marine division of Home Depot and the yacht supply section of Amazon.com. I assume you could order parts online from each of these companies in Canada.
Just purchased a Hella interior sealed chart light from Amazon this week - exactly the same part as originally installed by RT in our cabin.

We are in the Cowichan Valley and use either Trotac in Victoria or Harbour Chandlery in Nanaimo. Fellow in Duncan is fine but slightly more money and less selection. Lots of knowledge at Trotac, good assistance. Some basic stuff at Canadian tire as well, but not all of the same quality...

Trotac are certainly a good source. Depends on where you live and if you want to build a relationship or support local business. I live in Sidney and keep the boat on Harbour Rd. That’s where you will find Allbay Marine and Spencers. Both will work with you on pricing and will generally price match. Earl at Allbay has been in the business for a long time and will provide great advice. Good people with whom to do business. Spencer’s has the attraction of having a consignment section where you can often find lightly used components that will fit the bill. Try them both.

Thank-you everyone for your responses. 😀 Very much appreciated. We will start with the stores in the Victoria area.
Happy Boating!
Jayne
