It often takes us more than one day to get to a destination and put our tug in the water. On the way we usually overnight in a campground. We have always used the facilities there. We are leaving tomorrow for a short trip where we will sleep on our boat when it is on the trailer. I have an empty holding tank and a full water tank. Is there a method to flush the marine toilet (without making a mess) when it can't draw water from the ocean/lake/river?

Tugly --- I keep a gallon of fresh water next to the head. Pour a little in the head each time. You don't need much. Improves the odor situation too.

I use the shower head to put a bit of water in the head and then pump it. Works fine and no mess.

Since you (nor I), have a shower aboard, I really agree with the gallon jug idea. I might add a dash of holding tank chemical to the water in the jug to aid in deodorizing. I really don't think you would want to mess with plumbing the fresh water supply into the head system.
