Does anyone have a recommendation for a surveyor, boat and engine, in the greater Anacortes area. Familiarization with the Rangers might be a plus.

More info. to come, after the survey.

Also, which way does the prop wash push a R29 in reverse?

Thanks,

Jeff

Others may have recommendations that are more local to Anacortes and the nearby area. I will recommend Alison Mazon. She is out of Portland, but is well regarded up and down the entire West Coast (and farther). She travels frequently as far south as San Diego, and as far north to Anacortes and (at east as well). Around Portland, she is legendary.

Personally, I don't think you can do better if you want someone impeccably thorough and honest.

As for knowing Ranger Tugs, she knows ours, at least.

Before we began working with her, she was recommended to us by several harbormasters/boat yard masters in the Portland area. Now that we have boating though the summer in the Portland area, we have run into more people than we can name or count who know her and have worked with her. None has even a remotely negative thing to say. She is the guru around here.

Just know this: she won't pull any punches, and she is a demanding surveyor. If you want someone to tell you what you most want to hear (whether you are a seller or a buyer), she's not the surveyor to go to. She will see the problems if they are there, and tell it like it is. On the flip side, she also recognizes quality construction too, and will praise highly when high praise is due.

It's a right hand prop. It walks to port in reverse.

I have used Matt Harris at Reisner, Mcewan. He is extremely thorough and very highly regarded. He works out of Bellingham, so you will not incur much in the way of travel expenses.

I also feel Matt Harris would be a good choice. He recently did a survey for my brother and I attended. His company,
Reisner,McEwen & Harris have been in the Seattle area for many years. I have used them a couple of times over the years.

Good luck,

Jim

Thanks for the information. This is a great group.

We also used Matt Harris in conjunction with Steve D'Dantonio. Between the 2 of them they saved us from making would would have ended up being a HUGE purchasing mistake. They are both extemely thorough and tell you the facts, both good and bad !
