The marine toilet on my 2020 RT27OB does not flush; the pump comes on, the pee in the bowl flushes, but there is no rinse water to fill the bowl. It worked fine 2 weeks ago. I checked the raw water valve which is in the correct open position, and the raw water filter which looks clean. Got a lot of clear back flow when I took the filter off. Wondering if my intake is clogged but am not sure where to find it to check under the boat. Appreciate any recommendations or suggestions. Thanks!

Call Raritan. It’s probably the pump in the toilet that needs replacing. Easy job to replace it. They are very helpful in diagnosing and sending out the part.

Thanks very much. I’ll give them a call. Any water in the bowl flushes approximately and it certainly sounds like the pump is running but produces no water. I did check my raw water wash down hose and it works fine. From the diagram it uses the same water intake as the toilet so I assume that would mean the intake isn’t clogged and seems to confirm the assessment that the problem is in the pump.
Thanks again.

I know of at least 3 boats in the past couple of months that have had this happen to them. A call to Raritan, and the boat owner replaced the pump themselves in about 15 minutes. It fixed the problem in each case.

Raritan suggested hooking a hose and water bucket to the intake and seeing if the pump works on that to rule obstruction some in the line. Do you routinely do that?
It sounds like I need to replace the diaphragm using their kit.
Do you have to unmount the whole toilet to work on it?
It’s pretty tight quarters in the head behind the toilet.
Thanks for your help!

I had a pump break within a few weeks of taking delivery in February 2022. Ranger came out and replaced it a few days after the first email. I don't know why this seems to be a common issue, but at least it's a relatively easy fix.

I got in touch with Kenny at RT
He suggested:
- make sure second intake port on pump is tightly capped and not allowing air into system (mine was fine)
- back flush through raw water intake hose (uncouple from raw water filter) using dock hose.
When I did the second check, we got water through the toilet. When I reconnected the line to the raw water filter the toilet rinsed properly. I’m not sure what this maneuver fixed, but is saved me from buying the rebuild kit from Raritan. I would definitely try this as part of the troubleshooting checklist for this problem.
Thanks to everybody for the responses and input!
