I have a "New to me" 2010 R25-SC. It is equipped with a Mase 2.5 genset and Dometic Air Conditioner. I am presently working on the Mase (no suprise and will start a new thread on that if necessary) so I am unable to try running the Air Conditioner off it. I cannot find any amp rating for the A/C unit, short of replacing or changing the Genset my questions are;
1) Is the Mase 2.5 even capable of running the A/C unit?

2) If not able to handle the startup of the A/C will adding a Softstart such as the following enable it?

I have a 2013 C26 with MASE 2.7 IS. This set up runs the A/C with no problems. A couple of things you might want to look at on the Genset. Run Generator and check voltage with no load at one of the outlets. If you have a meter that is capable of checking frequency check it too. Now put a light load and monitor voltage drop. If you have low voltage and frequency within tolerance (59-62Hz) you probably have a bad capacitor ( 25 uF 450V ). If the frequency is low the generator is running at too low RPM. I mounted my new capacitor on outside of sound shield as its pretty tight to get to on back of generator.
Hope this helps.

Britt,
Thanks for the info. I see the power specs are the same on the 2.7 as the 2.5 so this gives me hope! Cap has been replaced by PO but not sure of the rating. Will start a separate thread for gen.
Thanks,
Mike

We recently got a 2013 R27 with the Mase 2.7 and Dometic AC. We’ve put about 5 hours on the genset running the AC while underway with zero problems and lots of comfort. We’re in Texas! Still hot here.

Which capacitor was changed? Genset or AC unit? What is actually happening when you try to run AC? If it is hard starting and tripping breakers it could be the start/ run capacitor on AC unit.

I had the same boat that you have. The Mase Genset will run the AC. Do not use any other high draw item when using the AC such as the hot water heater or electric stove.

Finally got my genset working! Replaced the fuel injector! Got an actual Yanmar new army surplus off ebay.
Next question is any recommendation on engine oil type to use? Being that is in an enclosed cabinet with cover I'm leaning towards the higher temp spec of SAE 20W-40 (68 - 104 Deg F) 20W-40 appears hard to find so I'm thinking 15W-40 synthetic.

I'm not an expert but I run the same oil as engine Rotella 15w-40 T4. Change at the same time whether it has the hours or not. My generator had 18 hrs on it when I bought the boat 14 months ago and now has 162hrs. Glad you got it going. As someone said earlier you are pretty much limited to running one load at a time on generator.

also after speaking to Joe at the Mase headquarters in Fla. He recommended that I change the fuel filter to the Racor Rlls 2 micron filter. I had ended up loosing the fuel shutoff solenoid and he said this would increase the overall longevity rather than the 10 micron filter.

.85 qt (27 Oz) SAE 10w30 (from the manual) I used Rottella brand.

Thanks for the input. I already installed a whole new filter assembly but will consider this for next service. Thanks!
