I think I'll smack my Irish ancestors as I sure don't have the "luck of the Irish." We cruised from Pensacola to Niceville's Boggy Bayou for our 50th wedding anniversary. On the way the rudder arm link fell out. The jam nut had backed off and the link separated. Fixed that in 20 minutes, ate lunch and crossed Choctawhatchee Bay. Moored at Chef Ernie Danjean's Dockside Café where we were treated like royalty. Ate a dozed raw oysters, then fried oysters and Chef Ernie sent out his great bread pudding. Slept well, did a pot of coffee and had no idea what was going to happen next. We decided to eat breakfast in Destin harbor on the hook with the generator. Got there ok, dodging idiots on rental pontoon boats, jet ski's and a host of other craft. We broke out the bacon, started the generator only to have it shut down on E-82 (overheat) after two minutes. Checked the strainer, no problem. Pulled the impeller and replaced it though it did not look damaged. Then promptly lost one of the pump cover screws in the case of the generator. Never did find it so we ate chicken salad for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Left Destin and headed west towards home and ended up amongst a Catalina 22 "Gathering" in Pirate Cove. Two Catalina sailors in bikini's paid us a visit and came aboard. We ate more chicken salad and bedded down for the night. We ate yogurt and pinapple for breakfast and headed west again. The Catalina's were headed west too so we eased by all 20 of them and finally stopped for lunch at Little Sabine. More chicken salad and the last of our snacks. Got home, unloaded and bought four 4 mm 0.7 pitch screws for impeller cover. Tightened her up and still E-82. Downloaded the parts list blow up and found where to connect a mysterious blue wire. Weirdest spade connector I have ever seen. Generator runs great. It was the darn blue wire that I never saw until we got home. I am not sure she will celebrate another anniversary on the boat.
