Sounds like you may have a bad connection or a bad starter switch. I would check all your connections to make sure they are clean with no corrosion. If that does not work try bypassing the switch and if it works after that it is the switch. If that does not work maybe someone else has a tip or two.

Having followed the excellent advice above and still not hearing the starter operate, then next thing to check should be the solenoid, which can often freeze when left for a while.

The Mase genset uses a Yanmar engine which has a small starter that's very similar to the one in a car, and it functions in exactly the same way.

Troubleshooting the starter and solenoid may be beyond your level of expertise (no criticism intended), but it's not something you need a Mase or Yanmar tech for; any competent auto mechanic should be able to check it out.

On my Mase 4.0 there are four things to check. There are two fuses in the electrical compartment of the generator. The fuse holder with the fuses can be lifted and accessed through the compartment cover. There is also a reset at the top near the heat exchanger and I am sure you have checked the kill swith mounted on the cover.

I too have a problem with my generator. The engine works fine but just recently the generator stopped working for no apparent reason. Is there a fuse that I might want to check?

Jim, did you check the stuff mentioned by LADYBUG TOO in the post just above yours :?:

A word to the Wise

My MASE manual says that the engine must be started every month.

Believe me the "MASE" folks take that VERY SERIOUSLY....

So I would not ever and I mean ever tell the MASE folks about not starting your generator for a "long" time. 🙁

I have not had this specific problem but have 2 different issues where starter operated but engine got no fuel. Both turned out to be poor connections (loose 12V lead on fuel pump & corroded 12V lead on fuel shutoff solinoid)
