I have a 2012 29' ranger & need to remove the generator for repair & to replace the plywood floor in the locker.
The generator is mounted to the stand w/ four thru bolts. I was able to remove three of the bolts but the forward outside bolt is not accessible. It looks like the stand is held on by lag bolts, I removed the two bolts on the rear but the front doesn't look accessible. It looks like the only access for the front is the small panel under the stove. Has anyone removed the generator on an older 29 & if so, what am I missing?

Thanks,
Matt Murphy

I removed mine on the same boat. You're on the right track. I removed all the covers for access and visibility. I recall it was not easy, but I think I used a short box end ratchet wrench. Make sure you have a very strong friend to assist lifting it out! I had nothing but trouble with that generator and hated the noise it made. I sold mine and used the space for the house batteries from the port side and added 740 watts of solar with a complete suite of Victron devices. Of course, there is those that feel a generator is a necessity but in 10 years of using my boat I only used the generator to run my AC units while under way on the Great Loop. Ironically this past summer I used my cabin AC while under way for 2 hours with only solar and engine. If you're a fatalist by nature I would consider a Honda suitcase generator. Personally, I think the money is better spent on beer.

Good Luck, Leon

I got the generator removed. I had to cut an access hole in the storage cabinet in front of the generator. I then was able to remove the two front lag bolts, unplug the control harness, cut the ty wraps that hold the generator load cable, slide the generator a little to the rear, remove the top wiring access cover to remove the load connections, then slide the generator back more so that it could be lifted out of the boat.
Do know how it could be done without cutting the cabinet floor.
