After having the boat trailered the mast hinge snapped. A few questions: Are the electronics that are attached to the mast base removed just by unscrewing the connector box and than unplugging, or something more involved? The welder who came out to bid the job said the hinge and pin were not stainless steel but just an ordinary metal not intended for the water environment, do you guys now use stainless or do other owners need to watch this closely? Lastly do you guys have replacement bases with stainless hinges available?

Thanks

Hi Ethan,

Thanks for posting. In order to try and help, we would need to know what year your boat is so we can be sure to give you proper info, as build processes do change over the years. For the mast, I am pretty confident that the hinges are stainless. However, let us know the build year and I will find out more.

Thank you!

2015 29S. And it was not stainless on this part.

Hi Ethan,

Thanks for confirming. I have reached out to the manufacturer to see if there are any issues with these hinges that would be related to them not being made of stainless. I will report back with my findings on that.

For the wiring, unfortunately there are no quick disconnects in that box, but you would simply need to follow each device and disconnect it at the device, or decide if it is possible to cut the wiring inside that box and then reconnect properly afterward. You would have to judge that for yourself. Some devices such as the radar can be disconnected at the exterior device. I will let you know about the mast asap.

Thank you!

Ralf

Hi Ethan,

I'll need a bit more info to help with this and see what's happening with your mast. I'll take this conversation offline and send you a p.m.

Thanks!

Ralf
