I feel kind of silly asking this, but I can't get my microphone off the mounting clip. I've tried rotating it, pushing it, pulling it, but can't make it budge. I don't want to damage it, so I'm hoping I'm missing something simple. I'm on a 2008 21ec with, I believe, a Ray54 VHF.

Two approaches to this I think having had a similar experience

1/ grasp the mike as securely as you can on the two sides, with the remaining fingers place them on the bulkhead so you can use leverage vs simply yanking up on the Mike

2/ is the same as one except use a hack saw blade to spread the mile holder tangs before levering up
You might also leave the blade in place during the levering part

We had a mile so firmly seated, we wound leaving the mile 'loose' on top of the clip
Better yet we should have fiddled with clip and bend the tangs a little

I took a piece of teak about 1 inch thick, turned it on my lath and mounted it to the location where the factory installed clip was. i then mounted the clip to the 1 inch spacer. If you don't have a lath, just cut about a 1.5 inch square block of whatever is available, No more contorting of the hand and fingers!

Thanks for the assist! I'll try this next time I'm at the boat in a few weeks.

I had the same problem on my R-27. A quick fix is add 3 small washers between the bracket and the mounting surface i.e. one washer for each screw.

Solution. Turns out the mic had to be rotated 90 degrees from vertical to come off the mount. That, plus some of the tips from previous posts helped.
