Minn Kota, Riptide Ulterra on R23

Hello,

Has anyone had a Minn Kota Riptide Ulterra installed (on the bow) of a R23? I have a factory installed Yamaha 9.9 with the panther setup. I'd like to remove the 9.9 and replace it with the Minn Kota on the starboard bow.

I am assuming your primary goal is fishing.Are you planning on trolling using the MinnKota autopilot and a Humminbird chart plotter or is this just for positioning and using spotlock anchor feature.?

Does the 9.9 and panther not fill the role for trolling now ?

I understand the attraction to the great MinnKota features. Would you add an additional ,dedicated bank of batteries for the MinnKota?

i dont know much about these but just reading the spec sheets, with the 112lb unit drawing 52amps at times thats going to need 3 group 31 batteries to find a home on the R23

that seems like the hardest problem here!

Agreed... 3 more batt's will add substantial weight. But I have to ask... "on the bow"??? The bow of my R23 is a good 4 feet off the waterline :shock:

We do alot of fishing here in FM and my brother had the Minn Kota Riptide Ulterra...on a 24 foot bay boat. Basically ended up giving it away for half what he paid just to get rid of it...kept breaking. A great idea and if/when it works. I wish you luck.
