Hello all,

I have a new to me 2016 Cutwater 26. I just replaced my 4 sealed batteries with 4 new AGMs. The Morningstar SunSaver Duo controller doesn’t have a battery type dip switch setting for AGM. My question to others with AGMs: how do you have your dip switches set?

The AGMs I have say:
Charge/Absorption/Equalize between 13.8 - 14.6 volts.
Float/Standby between 13.4 - 13.6 volts.
Temperature corrected charging required. ++what does that mean??++

According to the SunSaver Duo manual the following specific values for the battery type:
For Sealed:
Absorption 14.1; Float 13.7.
For Flooded:
Absorption 14.4; Float 13.7; Boost 14.8; Boost Time 2 hrs; Boost Interval 28 days.

How should the battery type switches be set for AGM?

Thank you for any advise.

Temperature corrected charging means that a sensor is attached to the battery which the charge controller uses to adjust the output voltage.

Personally, I don't use pwm controllers, only mppt. They do take more space but normally offer much better control of the charging cycle and permit customizable charge voltages. The biggest advantage of mppt is overall better efficiency and output for the same solar panel installation.

That being said, I do recall that with a PC and the appropriate programming cable, it is possible to define custom set points with the controller you have. Mostl likely this https://www.morningstarcorp.com/product ... s-adapter/

Hi marcham, I think the adapter you gave a link to, and a laptop will allow to set custom values as you mention. Thanks for that information. It may be what I have to do. However, I was hoping I could use the controller as is with the flooded setting. I have asked the guy who installed the AGMs and waiting to hear from him now.
