So after adding the weight of radar to the folding mast I was not completely happy with the factory mast support. We plan on doing some extensive trailering with our 2015 R21 EC and I felt that a longer term and more supportive option to the factory design might be a good idea.

I looked at modifications others on Tugnuts have made, all are creative solutions. Then I looked around to see what raw materials were laying around the garage. Being into amateur radio, I had collected some military surplus aluminum antenna mast components. Using those I cobbled together the "Mother of All Mast Supports." It is an aluminum tripod that supports the mast in a very secure manner with the legs of the tripod resting on rubber pads on the fore deck and securing it all to the deck cleat. Everything disassembles and lives in the back of the car when we are on the water. And I can still use the factory support for low bridges etc.

I just wanted to share the idea with others, photos are in my gallery of the same name as this topic.

That looks good.
And as a plus, when you are under way on the water, you have a place to store the .50 cal..... 🙂
