I need a motor box vent like the OEM vent I posted a photo of in my album.
It measures approximately 5 5/8" x 2 1/2". I've been unable to locate anything similar in my local marine stores.

I don't believe we have any of these left, the only option I could give you is to install the new style vents that we were using, its stainless steel with slots to allow heat to escape. You can purchase these direct from us by reaching out to our parts guy at: parts@rangertugs.com

Thank you.

From my experience with my R21 Classic, the vents act as air supply pathways for the engine while it is running, not as heat outflow vents. I have had a temp probe in the engine compartment and it does not get very warm until you shut the engine off and there is no air entering the box.

.. something that my go-to diesel guy tells me, is to be sure to let the diesel idle a bit at dockside when you come in, so as to let it cool a bit .. like any engine, the heat doesn't dissipate very quickly when shut down quickly and the coolant stops circulating .. I do my tie up with the motor running and check hoses and bilge after shutting down .. Rob

Yup....even with a cool-down, the interior of the box gets kinda warm, but nothing extreme. I have an after-market water temp gauge, and normal temp is 160F. after a sustained WTO run, it gets up to 200F or so. Box interior rises to 120 after shut-down and stays there for quite a while. I usually just open and shut the box once after shutdown and that seems to help.
