I want to buy a propane gas grill. Should I buy a railing mount for it and if so, what is the width of the railing? Can I also use a rod holder mount as well? Any recommendations on mounting or a good grill is appreciated. Thanks.

We've got the rod holder type that came with the boat and it works OK. Downside is that you're limited to where you can place it. If you want more flexibility on location then the rail mount is probably a better choice.

We prefer the rod holder setup. Utilizing a corner holder puts the BBQ out over the water and not the swim platform. Also, it allows easy dismount and storage of the BBQ under the cockpit in a heavy-duty bag Magma sells. If you go with rail mount, I recommend a BBQ that centers on the rail instead of cantilevered out. The center of gravity ought to be over the rail when in heavy water.

My previous owner left me a bracket mount for an outboard motor for the dinghy that I don't have.
I adapted the BBQ mount to fit onto the OB motor mount and it works great. Out over the swim platform and just a little bit away from the rail. Posted a photo, sort of explanatory.

Excuse the hooded sweat shirt in the picture I was using it as a windbreaker. I made a grill mount that is made out of 1/4" aluminum. It U-bolts th the rail and has a support leg with a rubber foot that goes down the ridge above the bumper strip. I have a removable rod with a pin that keeps the long rod from falling out. The legs of the grill have been drilled to accept the rod. We use the grill when we travel by land at the RV parks. I use the same mount with the grill removed to accept a starboard bait cutting board. Same thing just a bait board with two starboard pieces mounted on the bottom side drilled with holes for the same long rod to go thru. The rod holder grill mount I bought from Dickinson just seemed shaky.
We have had good success with our Dickinson Spitfire grill. We used on our previous boat. We have used it since 2009 no parts required yet. The push button spark thing (piezo electric) still works! It does not get crazy hot like some and cooks pretty evenly. It has a two piece cooking rack so they sit side by side. You can buy a griddle plate and remove one of grill racks and use the griddle plate if eggs and pancakes are on the menu. They are a little pricey compared to the Magma line.

The four eyes are there to bungee cord the grill cover on. Looks a little obsessive compulsive.
