We have sold our wonderful CW30 and have purchased a bigger boat that will take us further afield in the PNW. I already miss this forum - our new (new to us that is) boat does not have a forum. This Tugnuts forum, where you can ask for help and occaisionally give some advice is really wonderful. We have to mention the social aspects of RT and CW that we have thoroughly enjoyed. We have met many great people on this part of our journey. We hope that if a Mikelson 43 crashes a CW or RT party that you will maybe recognize us from previous get togethers and invite us in! Mary-Ellen and I wish all of you happy and safe boating!

I would not have regrets moving on to a bigger boat. I will admit you took (2 foot-Itis) to a new level! Mikelson 43 is a nice boat. Gives you the best of both worlds. Comforts of trawler cruising with the sport fish capabilities. I hope this makes you feel better. 2019 we were cruising in Georgian Bay heading to North Channel. We stopped at Little Current for a few days . There was a 50' Mikelson a few slips down from us. (Endorphin Voyager) The owners were flying a AGLCA flag (Loopers) So I introduced myself, a few beers later and a couple other folks on the dock there was a social event taking place. 2 Cutwater owners, a few sail boat owners, a Cruisers, a couple of Taiwan trawlers and a Egg Harbor. If you are a boater any group will invite you in! I will have to admit I think having the Cutwater did get us invited to a few other boat manufactures groups. Last winter in Marathon there was a PDQ rendezvous. The slip we were in was in between several PDQ's. We were invited to a few sunset gatherings. At the gatherings I received many questions about our C26 Cutwater. I was also invited on board several Rosborough boats during one of their rendezvous. Invited out for lunch and drinks with a C-dory group.
My point if you pull into a marina or anchorage and see a Ranger or Cutwater or any other brand you still have something in common. Experience cruising in a Cutwater and the comradely associated with it. With that you can easily strike up a conversation with a TugNut and then let the party begin!!!

Congrats on the new to you boat. Enjoy!! My wife Loral and I are in the Same "boat" (figure of speech) as you. We are no longer Cutwater owners and will be most likely be moving on to a different brand larger boat (only 4' to 6' Itis). I would like to find a Used C30 but the market is tough right now so we will see. We have been concentrating on Nordic Tug 32/34. The market is crazy and the boats are limited. I will still be a TugNut, we have 5 years of cruising and several thousand miles under our keel in a Cutwater. I may be a TugNut cruising in my 9' dingy with a 6hp Suzuki!

Absolutely stay engaged...I'm sure there are many CW/RT owners who are considering more space at some point. My 2 foot-Itis mainly relates to beam, not overall length. The galley/salon is always a major choke point and a few extra feet would allow folks to pass by easily. Some of the Cats, like the AspenCat 35 look interesting, however, it’s beam is only 10’ 8”.

Thanks Guys, we will be around watching for Cutwater and Ranger Tug activity! From a beam perspective going from a 10’ to a 16’ beam opens allows for a different kind of cruising experience. So far so good!
All the best,
Shane

I was reviewing the pictures and noticed the Aqua Glide kayak. We are looking at buying the same model. How do you like it and what did you use to mount it?

Thanks!!

While we are not inflatable kayak experts we think that this model of kayak is excellent. It tracks well, inflates easily, and is big enough for the two of us and our 60 pound dog. With the CW we either stored it in one of the lazorettes or kept it inflated and stored it on the stock roof rack with the help of some fairly standard car roof rack kayak mounts. The rack we used was a J-Hook Yakima model. Happy kayaking!
