Any experience or recommendations for on-board sanitation treatment, such as electro scan?

Roger , I am an Airhead fan . Had one on my old rental C Dory . Its a very green and convenient solution . We are a dealer for them and have installed a few on C Dorys . Could allow black tank to be reserve fuel or water . They work really well .

I personally have not installed any of these systems nor used one. Marc would definitely know more about this then I do. Sorry!

Many years ago I installed in our 40' Monk a chemical treatment system. It worked very well and required minimal maintenance. We never pumped it unless we were in open water but it was legal to use in Lake Washington (just east of Seattle). I talked to Marine Sanitation from Seattle at the Boat Show and was informed they are still legal and available I even thought about buying one and installing it in the Nellie Too.

I spoke with the Raritan Tech rep regarding the Electro Scan system. It fits nicely in the cockpit locker to starboard aft of the waterheater. You insert a 'Y' valve between the head and the Electro Scan, the same type used to divert the holding tank to the macerator pump for overboard. The discharge side of the Electroscan is simply plumbed around to the discharge hose beyond the macerator pump. That way the holding tank is used if in a NDZ. Now with all that said, I determined the whole project is unnecessary since pumpout stations are available enough, and a portable waste caddy can be bought for a whole lot less and no installation needed.
