Hi all,

We got our 2014 R25 SC a month ago, immediately took it from Anacortes to the San Juan Islands. Met a few other Ranger Tugs and had a great time going from Rosario to Sucia to Roche and back home to the Des Moines Marina.

A couple weeks ago we took our boat to Blake Island, had another good trip, but noticed the aft bilge pump was not working, in manual or automatic modes. I was going to have CSR South replace it but notice it had a wing on top that looked like you could unscrew. I didn't want to force it too much and break it, but I could get it to turn. A little research and it turns out these Johnson bilge pumps have removable cartridges that are easy to replace, you just have to lift a tab to be able to twist the cartridge out. I got it out, got a replacement, and everything works great. Even upgrade from a 750 GPH to a 1000 GPH cartridge.

So I got my first repair out of the way. Figured many of you know how to replace this model bilge pump, but for new owners like myself, here's a picture.

nice work! I have this style in my 2016 C-30 as well. Just make sure since you upgraded the GPH that the fuse amperage is appropriate. I can't remember off the top of my head if there's a difference between the amp requirements on the 750 vs the 1000.

Yup, the fuse and hose size are the same for the 750 and 1000 GPH.
