Hi All,
Does anyone have experience going through customs at Nanaimo? I'm headed to Desolation Sound and need to hit the Dodd Narrows around 1:30.
I was planning on Bedwell Harbor but if Nanaimo is just as easy I may not make the stop. (and am I correct that I don't have to stop at the closest? That's what the website seems to say)
Thanks.

Yes, you can clear customs in Nanaimo. We've done it several times. It doesn't have to be the nearest port of entry, as long as you don't go ashore or anchor anywhere before getting to Nanaimo.

Also the customs area is on E dock, just behind the fuel barge so it's convenient to be able to just pull forward to get fuel after clearing customs. Tie up on the north side of E dock just shoreward of the fuel pumps, where the dock bullrails are painted yellow

We checked in at Nanaimo after departing from Anacortes in early August. Tie up at the Customs dock adjacent to the fuel dock. No Customs landline anymore. The sign has the phone number to use on your mobil phone. They asked a few questions and cleared us in by phone.
