Hi there - about to close on a clean 2015 R27 with the Volvo D3 200 -

Batteries are at about 50% so Ill be getting some new ones - Boat is a NW addition - IM trying to determine power requirements - boat is pretty much stock - instruments and refrig, running lights and instruments -- where can I get the power requirements for all of these? Owners Manual?

next - does anyone know the output of the Volvo alternator? Ive heard its 130 amps

next - regarding propane tanks - this boat has a 2 tank container on the swim platform - Ive noticed other boats where there is no box on the swim platform - where are these boats keeping the gas bottles?

finally - Ive noticed that the first gen boats had a removable little step that would mount to the cabin sides - did those come with the boat?

Boat came from Gig Harbor

cheers

You need to know the amp draw of each item and then do the math. Manuals or information plates should have amp consumption displayed. Changing bulbs to LED will save a lot of amperage. Not using your chartplotter while anchored is also a big amp saver. Your biggest power hog will be the refrigerator that will consume about 2.5 amps per hour.

Someone else may have input on this, but they do put out quite a bit of amperage

On the older models there was one tank located in a Propane box under the stern seat.

There is a small ladder that came with the boat. I took it off the boat since I never used it. It may be a good spare anchor some day.

Regarding power requirements, watch the Power Management webinar found at this link.

The spec output of the D3-200 alternator is 180Amps.

Not all boats were ordered with a propane range. If not then no propane tanks or propane box was included.

Yes, there should be a ladder. I suspect it was made by Bolton Stainless. Perhaps they could make you one if yours is missing.

We had a 2015 R25SC for 6 years. We carried a bike, a kayak and a paddleboard on the roof racks. Never once did I use the ladder that came with the boat that attached to the mounts on the cabin sides. (For a point of reference I am just under 5' 7''.) Thus, if your boat was acquired without the ladder that mounts on the side, I would not worry about acquiring one. It took up space but was never used in our case.

Thanks to everyone for their replies. I will admit I was lazy about current draw with the boat _ i assumed since most of the boats (2015 R27 Volvo) that that data would be close at hand. Nope!! Ill look it all up.

Which LED brand of lights/bulbs have you all worked with - esp the Anchor light?

Also interested in any Volvo D3 mods. With particular interest in fresh water flush systems.

cheers - Im sure Ill have more questions as we live with this boat

cheers

Marine Beam https://store.marinebeam.com/. They are very helpful and I believe they may even have a Ranger Tug package. Anchor light replacement is a must. The other nav lights not as important since you will only be using them while underway and the engine will be charging. However if you replace the nav bulbs buy the green and red spectrum. You will get significantly better and brighter lighting.
