After 5 year, it was time to upgrade the bimini/canvas on our tug. LaZina and I wanted 4 things out of the upgrade:
  • Don't pool water when it rains. We want the water to shed naturally. No more waterfalls on our head getting on/off the boat.
  • We wanted a place to store the USCG required throwable seat cushion flotation device.
  • At the forward section of the Bimini, use the canvas to direct water into the boat's gutters so it doesn't run into the cockpit.
  • Change the color to black.

We had Little House of Canvas in Everett do the work. We know Jacy and Ryan (the owners) from the yacht club. They're great folks. They live-aboard a gorgeous 80' boat in Everett, WA. They are boaters and really know canvas.

The canvas was remade in black. They used zippers all the way around to make it taut with a snap in each corner so it won't pool water. They stitched in a pocket to hold the throwable cushion, and crafted the corners of the Bimini to direct water back onto the boat for drainage. It looks awesome, works awesome... A great upgrade to the boat.

They also do full enclosures and upholstery.

We've published a couple of videos that go over our new Bimini in detail. Also illustrating what's involved with custom canvas work.
