I received some communication from SeaPiper about visiting their boat factory....
If you were to place a reservation for a hull today I would assign you to hull #14, which is about 12-15 months out. However, as things are you'd likely find that over a one year period people change their mind, their situation changes, or they are not in a major hurry. So there is a good chance that could end up swapping build slots and end up with an earlier build.
SeaPiper is built at our production facility in China. At any time you are able to travel there of course! I travel there regularly myself.
If you have any questions about the reservation or build process, or about the boat itself: please do not hesitate to reach out to me.

I agree this information at least for me is a set back. I have emailed questions to the builder thinking that is where the facility was. After your post and further research I found that your statement is most definitely fact the build is in China. Not that I am at all committed to purchasing a SeaPiper but it would be an asset to be able to witness and see the build while seeing the facility. One element of our purchase that we did not do when purchasing our 26 'Cutwater. In hind site would this have changed our minds on making the purchase. I'm not sure but it would have exposed some of the build process that has surprised me after 3 seasons of ownership. I'm not at all saying Rangers and Cutwaters are poorly built. The fact that the boat is not built in the USA is not unusual any more either. There are more boats manufactured out of the country more now the ever. My Father purchased a 1981 29' Roughwater designed by Edward Monk built in Korea by a Subsidiary of Hyundai. The hull had very similar lines to the SeaPiper and close to the same fuel range. Powered with a 85 hp Lehman Diesel. He never witnessed the build. The boats were sold out of Southern California and only 12 were ever built. The only issue that he had with the boat and would not have shown up by witnessing the build was the Lehman diesel block used was not flywheel balanced properly and vibrated at idle, we considered vibrated badly!
The SeaPiper is in its own league, I think it is priced great and regardless of where it is built, it is a boat to consider if a trailerable trawler is what is wanted.
