Had the factory delivery experience last week, and a bit of a shake down cruise (Thanks Tim, Ivan, Marcos!). Much more information than can be remembered, tried to take videos but I'm sure I'll post some questions in the future.

Took GypsyMoth up to Elliott Bay and had a socially distant meeting with Bruce (thanks for the hospitality!), rained a bit and quite a lot of debris in the water! I did hit one log (I assume a log, never saw it before or after the impact...). Seems like entire forests are floating in the Sound! Had a few meals outside Maggie Bluffs and mostly hung out on the boat.

When the weather cleared we went over to Poulsbo, then got hit by weather again. Was able to walk around town (in full foul weather gear!) and had meal or two outside the Slippery Pig. The marine wildlife entertainment was quite enjoyable in Poulsbo- was able to watch a couple of otters playing/eating on the dock in the very early AM:

When the weather cleared up we planned a jaunt down to Gig Harbor, only to learn (after docking near the pump out) that Arabella's Landing wasn't accepting transient moorage due to covid. Placed a few calls to the marina, but these all went to busy, so decided to swing back over to Des Moines. Even though we left Poulsbo late (waiting for fog to lift- it didn't until after we were out of Liberty Bay- radar really is your friend!) we arrived in Des Moines well before sundown. Cruising the R27 at 30mph made it an enjoyable day!

Discussed a few trivial concerns with Marcos who took our list of fix it items and indicated they would all be addressed before the boat is shipped down to the SF Bay.

At home now, missing the boat- but it will be here soon.

Congratulations on your new R27, I’m sure you’ll love your new boat.

Glad to hear you got to try it out before bringing home. I see you got a few of the newer features

Great to meet you and glad you got to see a bit of our local cruising grounds. Enjoy your upcoming experiences on S.F. Bay, the Delta, and trips out to the Farallon Islands and down the coast.

Cheers,

Bruce & Vicki

Sorry you could not find moorage in Gig Harbor. It is a great place to visit (and live).

I used to live in Tiburon, on Paradise Cay. It is a great place to live, you will enjoy your new boat there.

Yes... I hope the Lithium batteries reduce or eliminate the need for a gen set. Already missing her!

How has the fishing been?

My father's first bay boat was initially berthed in Paradise Cay, there were very few boats there back in the day. Looking forward to spending time on the water again!

Gig Harbor is a great little town to visit. If you get back up this way you should try again. We were there a couple of weeks ago. Stayed on Jeresich public dock. It’s first come first served but in the off season there is rarely a problem getting a place. We were there for a few days a couple of weeks ago and we were sometimes the only boat on the dock. There were never more than three other boats docked there. And moorage in the off season is 50 cents per foot - including shore power hookup. Glad you got to Poulsbo and the Slippery Pig though. That town has a lot of personality. You will love your new boat. Enjoy!
